The "Air Car":



· Bankruptcies jump 40 percent in 2007. The American Bankruptcy Institute blames the mortgage crisis for heavy debt load, warns that this year could see more bankruptcies (BD: So, with the new bi-partisan pro-credit card company/anti-American bankruptcy laws, WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THESE PEOPLE???).

· The Bush administration, faced with a deteriorating economy and a big jump in unemployment, said Friday it was considering an economic stimulus package that might include tax cuts to ward off a recession. (bd: I thought Bush just said the economy is "solid"!)

· Only 18,000 jobs created and unemployment on the rise

· Brutal selloff on Wall Street. Dow tumbles over 250 points after weaker-than-expected jobs report revives recession worries. The Nasdaq plunges.

·California sues EPA over greenhouse gas rules. 15 other states expected to join challenge of limits on their power

· Hate crimes against an African-American couple in Arlington, Texas (of course, Texas!)

· How Bush Took Us to the Dark Side. There are dire consequences that Americans will have to face now that torture and imprisonment of innocent people is everyday government practice.

· Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed a complaint with the FCC on Friday after ABC News excluded him, fellow Democrat Mike Gravel and Republican Duncan Hunter from its prime-time debates on Saturday.

· GOP Already at Work to Keep Obama Voters From the Polls. GOP-backed election laws in many states pose barriers to Obama's practice.

· The Return of the SwiftBoaters. Election 2008: The shadowy group that smeared John Kerry in 2004 is ready to do its dirty work again.

· Presidential candidates descend on New Hampshire. Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney targeted their main rivals for attack Friday as the presidential candidates wasted no time reflecting on Iowa's results before dashing in the pre-dawn hours to New Hampshire, which will hold the nation's first primary Tuesday.

· Media Talking Heads Gush Over McCain Loss In Iowa: ‘Big Hero,’ Maverick,’ ‘Babe Ruth’

· Would a Rudy Giuliani administration be populated with a cabinet of Republican rivals and a powerful, all-knowing vice president like Dick Cheney?

Shooting Back: The Israeli Human Rights Group B’Tselem Gives Palestinians Video Cameras to Document Life Under Occupation.

B’Tselem has given Palestinian families across the West Bank video cameras to document how they are treated by Israeli soldiers and settlers. Some of the videos depicting abuse by settlers sparked a national debate earlier this year after they were broadcast on Israeli television. We speak with Oren Yakobovich who coordinates B’Tselem’s video department.
